Types of Digital  Marketing Strategies 

Digital marketing strategies are necessary because they are the methods a business will take to achieve its digital marketing goals. There are many companies out there who offer digital marketing services and will know the right strategies for your business.

Some of the different types of digital marketing strategies are;

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

SEO is the art of altering your website so that it ranks high in search engine results. These rankings are based on keywords and phrases related to the business. When more persons become aware of a business the higher it ranks and the more keywords it ranks for. A high volume of website visitors may lead to more customers. 

The SEO strategy is useful because it is a targeted strategy that markets directly to individuals who already have an interest in the business. An individual may be led to the website because of the keywords they enter in the search engine. For example, searching the words “nearest paint store”, the person who searches for this is already looking for paint, which means they are already a potential customer. 

Pay-per-click (PPC) Advertising

With PPC advertising companies bid on keywords results where they want their ads to show up. The ads will show up at the top of the results page however, companies only pay if a user clicks on the ad, if there are no clicks the company does not pay. The difference between PPC advertising and other forms of advertising is that the business does not pay for the placement, they only pay for the results of the placement. 

Similar to SEO, individuals who visit the website through the link already have an interest in what the business is offered. Furthermore, by clicking the link, they are already going to the website with the intent to make a purchase. 

Content Marketing

Content marketing is a unique form of marketing as its goal is not sales-orientated but informational. Companies that use content marketing use blog posts, videos, or infographics to connect with customers. Content marketing takes an organic approach because when a business uses content marketing they are not trying to persuade the individual.

If a paint shop posts a blog post on the best type of outdoor paint, this is considered content marketing. The company can use this opportunity to link to some of its outdoor paint products. Companies that use content marketing also have the opportunity to be considered a trusted source in the industry, which is beneficial for their reputation. 

Email Marketing

Companies that practice email marketing use email to communicate directly with customers. Companies use this method to inform customers of all relevant and important information about the company. This may include informing customers of upcoming sales or they can use the opportunity to offer gift cards or discounts. 

Email marketing focuses on retaining existing customers by offering them useful information and rewards. This strategy can form brand awareness and keep the brand and company at the top of the mind of customers. The goal is if an individual may need to purchase a product the business sells, they will remember the company’s name. For instance, if a customer needs to purchase paint, the company at the top of their mind will be the company that sends emails to their inbox. 

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing campaigns run on social media platforms and can now be referred to as digital word of mouth marketing. It is one of the most interactive forms of digital marketing because companies have the opportunity to communicate directly with customers and customers also get to interact with the company. 

Like email marketing, the purpose of social media marketing is to raise brand awareness and keep the brand at top of the mind of customers. Businesses that use social media marketing also use it to raise brand awareness and maintain their reputation.
